Chapter 71 is based at Bakersfield Municipal Airport (L45) with a large community hangar and meeting room at 2000 S. Union, across from the Rocket Shop Cafe.
EAA71 is the home of the Harmon Rocket, a modification kit to the popular Van's RV-4. Designed by John Harmon, the kit combines a 6 cylinder Lycoming with lengthened titanium gear and fuselage to produce a hot rod that will climb 3600fpm and cruise at 260mph!

$20/yr Chapter 71 dues are collected yearly at our January dinner meeting.
Join us for our monthly meetings the 2nd Wednesday each month at 7:00pm in the meeting room, 2000 S. Union across from the Rocket Shop Cafe.
AIRPORT OPEN HOUSE & FLY-IN (Saturday June 7, 2014)
Located behind the Rocket Shop Cafe and EAA Chapter 71 hangar on the transient parking area tarmac. Most activity is 8am-noon, but stay as long as you like and enjoy the day.
We welcome all general aviation airplanes and pilots to join us for a casual morning socializing, eating at the Rocket Shop Cafe, and exposing our love of aviation to the public. As in past years, we hope to see a large number of Experimental Airplanes, especially Harmon Rockets coming back to visit their creator John Harmon, owner of the Rocket Shop Cafe.
Young Eagle flights will be available from 8:00am-11:00am for kids 8-17 with parent or guardian present. No pre-registration necessary. Look for the 'Young Eagles' table behind the Rocket Shop Cafe near the small control tower. Pilots willing to provide flights please check-in when you arrive so we can match you with your Young Eagle(s). Pilots must be EAA members with their membership number. Flights are first come first serve, weather permitting, and at the discretion of the pilot(s).

Free introductory 'Young Eagle' flights for kids 8-17 are limited by the number of pilots and weather the day of the event.
A parent or guardian must accompany the participant the day of the event to sign the waivers.
